Paint frames with a coat of your base color (the shade that will show underneath the distress finish). After the paint is dry, rub Vaseline onto various spots on the frame . I used a variety of 100 – 220 grit sandpaper to do my distressing , and it helped to have a hand sander or sanding sponge to wrap the sandpaper around. It gave me a little more to grip.
