Jordan’s , which sells more furniture per square foot than any company in the United States, is approaching $250 million in annual sales. The four-store chain is co- owned by Eliot and Barry Tatelman, whose grandfather, Samuel Tatelman, incorporated it as a small furniture store in 1928 in Waltham.
Berkshire Hathaway Inc., a holding company controlled by the billionaire investor Warren E. Buffett , said today that it would purchase the Massachusetts-based Jordan’s Furniture Company for an undisclosed sum. Buffett said in a statement. ”This company is a gem.
Jordan’s Furniture Co., the Avon-based furniture powerhouse, will be purchased by Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire Hathaway Inc., a holding company controlled by billionaire investor Warren Buffet, for an undisclosed sum. The deal is estimated by analysts to be worth $200 million to $300 million .
Jordan’s Furniture carries pieces manufactured locally and also imported from overseas.
Tatelman remains busy. Under his production company, Off the Couch Productions, he is set to produce his latest project – a stage adaptation of the 1990 film, “Crazy People,” starring Daryl Hannah and Dudley Moore.
“His eyes are slightly discoloured which may point to jaundice, but there seems to also be a slightly raised lesion on the eye , which can point to something local causing the discolouration like a pinguecula,” said Dr. Phua upon his observation.
